Hi Paul, Funny you should mention the focusing are you using the EF 24-70mm f/2.8 lens, I'm putting mine in to get calibrated with the camera in about a weeks time, I don't have any problems with my mark1 and mark2 . I have heard that some canons do tend to have back focusing problems depending on the lens. Chances are it is your camera and lens combination.

Has anyone had a problem with the canon 1ds mark 3 where the camera jumps from 21 mega pixel to 6 mega pixel in the middle of a shoot for no reason ?

why doesnt Canon come around to Stevenson like Nikon does, I have a bag now that they gave me last year that advertises them everywhere I take it. Hmmm, would love to promote Canon more,,,I have used both, but I find that Canon is just that wee bit better. So Canon,,,come see us at the Colleges.

I use a few different cameras but own both a Nikon d200 and a Canon 1ds mark 1, both cameras have a similar amount of pixels the d200 10.4mp and the 1 ds 11mp the Nikon has a DX chip and the 1DS has a FX chip, now this isn't suppose to be a Canon Versus Nikon rant and it's not but in saying that there is quite a significant difference in detail (if detail is what your after). Initially, I did a like for like test i.e. the nikon with a 75 mm lens (nearly 100mm equivalent with dx chip) and the canon with the 100mm lens both quality f2 lenses.

I sat my daughter on the sofa, set up the cameras took the shots. The nikon as usual had nice warm skin tones, looked great, checked out the Canon shots and noticed that there was some side light coming in from another window, I thought that was strange, there was no trace of the side light what so ever on the nikon. I found that bizzare, no trace at all, I couldn't believe my eyes. Anyway, I just wanted to share that with you. I still love and use my Nikon, especially for beauty shoots or actress headshots but if your looking for detail it has to be the Canon, without a doubt, horses for courses.

Hi, Im planning on doing a trip across US starting L.A. all route 66 ending in Chicago and then to New York.
Any tips of things that I can find to shoot along the way ?
It can be anything, from sightseeing to a famous crazy guy in a town.

Electric Shock

I did the second part of the Littlewoods pools shoot yesterday, got off to a great start, we hired this large studio in Battersea, London. I was quite happy setting up my lights, the studio manager pointed me in the direction of there extention leads.

I picked up this coiled extension lead, plugged it into the wall, like you do and thought great this will do the trick, so I walked over to one of my strobes holding the end of the extension lead when WALLOP!!! yep, one hell of an electric shock w… Continue

Guardian Rights Grab

Hi Folks,

This is the letter I have just sent to Chris Elliott at the Guardian. Now he won't care what I say, probably won't care if a score of us write. But if every single photographer reading this were to write, then GNM might just listen.

Just remember, selling rights to our work is what makes us Professional photographers. If our clients start eroding those rights further, along with that fact that there is simply less work around today, then more of us will find it impossible to make a l… Continue
