Yes, that just about sums it up! The "I thought you would be grateful for the opportunity" line is my favourite.

Hi mate, best place to look is the HMRC website www.hmrc.gov.uk which should have downloadable documents on what you can claim. I think document BIM1720 deals with some of this... may be wrong but worth a look :)

I really like the look of their designs David. Good spot! Looks like you've found a great off-the-shelf web design solution which specifically caters for photographers. I've been using clikpic for several years now (www.triggersphotography.co.uk) w…

About Me:
I've recently turned pro having worked in advertising/DM agencies for 13 years for various blue-chip brands. Always been passionate about photography ever since my mother threw away my last pair of nappies, so turning pro actually feels quite natural! I won't pretend it's not going to be tough. It will be. But life's more fun when you take a few risks eh?

I'm here to meet fellow like-minded photographers, build my network, share experiences, learn new techniques and gain inspiration and I hope I can return the favour at the same time. Feel free to get in touch.

Good idea James. I've been absolutely flat out since Christmas but can always make time for a beer or two! How you fixed, say end of Tues19th or Wed 20th? I live in Wandsworth Common and spend a lot of time working in Kings Road. Is that close to you?

Hey Rich!
Nah no new commissions apart from 2 friends wedding in Jan & Feb (I wish I could say no!). I just started a job as a buyer / planner for Fonterra ( a Dairy co). Which just bought a house too. So the photographer dream is on back burner until I can do it enough to support family and pay the mortgage. How's the company doing with you?? Is it paying the way? I saw you needed assistants recently, man I wish I was back in London to help you.
Cheers
Craig

Thank you very much Richard...

I really find comments from other Photographers interesting and helpful (one of the main reasons that I joined the edge!) Your profile mirrors my journey so closely but instead of Advertising I was a Designer (Interesting)

Hi Richard

Welcome to the edge, thanks for joining.

Yeh!, I'm Hoping it will kick off, it's really early day's as you can see it's all a bit squeeky clean at the moment, I think it will be great when people get the time to start using the facilities, I only started to send out the invitations Wednesday night so I'm over the moon that there are now 17 of us, oops, actually make that 18 someone else has just this second joined, cool.

so make yourself at home and use the facilities, have a dig around the site. I'm happy to answer any questions that you might have.

If you have any suggestion's for the site or think Ive missed anything out please just say.

Road photos across USA

Hi, Im planning on doing a trip across US starting L.A. all route 66 ending in Chicago and then to New York.
Any tips of things that I can find to shoot along the way ?
It can be anything, from sightseeing to a famous crazy guy in a town.

Regards,

Diego

Electric Shock

I did the second part of the Littlewoods pools shoot yesterday, got off to a great start, we hired this large studio in Battersea, London. I was quite happy setting up my lights, the studio manager pointed me in the direction of there extention leads.

I picked up this coiled extension lead, plugged it into the wall, like you do and thought great this will do the trick, so I walked over to one of my strobes holding the end of the extension lead when WALLOP!!! yep, one hell of an electric shock w… Continue

Guardian Rights Grab

Hi Folks,

This is the letter I have just sent to Chris Elliott at the Guardian. Now he won't care what I say, probably won't care if a score of us write. But if every single photographer reading this were to write, then GNM might just listen.

Just remember, selling rights to our work is what makes us Professional photographers. If our clients start eroding those rights further, along with that fact that there is simply less work around today, then more of us will find it impossible to make a l… Continue
